What You Should Know about Switching Regulators - Switching regulators rapidly switch a series device on and off, it offers higher power conversion efficiency and design flexibility, that is why they are increasing in its popularity for such that reason.

Herein, you will be provided with basic operating principles of switching regulator (switching converter) such as Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, and Flyback converter types along with circuit diagrams of those regulators.

First of all you will be taken into sections discuss about the basic elements of power conversions (law of inductance, two important characteristics of inductor that follow the law), transformer operation including the circuit example (spark firing circuit), and the pulse width modulation (PWM).

Then you are described with the switching converter tipologies – the DC-DC converter circuits based on those basic principles of operation such as buck regulator inductor current, continuous-discontinuous operation,

output current and load power of the boost regulator, buck-boost (inverting) regulator, generating multiple outputs in flyback, and some multiple transistor converter topologies such Push-Pull, Half-Bridge, and Full-Bridge Converter.
