As stated before that LM124 operates with only a single power supply voltage, it also have true-differential inputs, and remain in the linear mode with an input common-mode voltage of 0 VDC.
It is noted in the datasheet that the power supply for the IC never become reversed in polarity and if an unlimited current surge through the resulting forward diode within the IC, it may lead to cause fusing of the internal conductors or a destroyed unit.
